Hi, I have an ECM Botticelli II (6years) and it has just yesterday stopped flowing water out of the shower head/ but rather all flows back to tank as if too much. Introducing the ECM Botticelli II. Liked to see some better instructional materials for the newbie like a DVD or a slightly less clinical instructional manual. And FREE shipping to boot!!! I saw one of the pop-up ads here on CoffeeGeek from the Daily Grinders and decided to check it out. It appears to be a clearance price, but I am not sure. An hours worth of research later, and I did not know much more about the machine than what is already shown on the Daily Grinders website.
I decided to order it anyways. The Botticelli II had what I was looking for in an approximate $300 machine.
Sturdy construction, brass boiler (not quite), and commercial quality brew group and portafilter. I was thinking about buying the Innova Arc, but so far I have not been able to find any reputable US retailers and thus I would have had to buy the machine with no warranty and possibly no real service support.
The Botticelli comes with a 1 year factory warranty. () The most amazing thing about the Botticelli II (for its price) is the stainless steel skin and hefty 26 lb weight.
That is a lot of machine for just $300, wouldn't you agree??? Comparing it to the Silvia, it would seem the only place it may fall short is the lack of a 3-way valve and possibly boiler material/construction. The boiler is not brass, but instead a nickel or chrome plated copper.
This fact made me a little gun shy, but I decided it has to be better than an aluminum boiler. Given the limited information available on the ECM Botticelli II, I am curious to know if anyone else has looked at this machine and what your thoughts might be??? Did I make a $300 mistake?

Great Deal at $300??? I don't know anything about the machine either, but I saw it and it seems like a good machine. Also, copper is an incredible heat conductor (copper is expensive, the poor man's version is Cast Iron) I'd say you made a safe bet with this. There might be a possible corrosion problem if you don't clean it out often enough (rust, and the green stuff probably isn't as fun in a boiler as it is on statues.) Good luck, tell us how it is. Looks very good except that the.5 litre size on the boiler seems like too much thermal inertia for comfort on a single-boiler machine. Even the Silvia boiler is a little oversize for me. I'd prefer a smaller boiler with a more high-tech control to ensure continuous steam.
Heating and cooling.5litre of water before/after steaming sounds slightly arduous to me. Regarding the boiler metal, I'd tend to agree with you that anything's got to be better than aluminum - and the pipes in our houses are copper so I'd tend to agree that copper instead of brass should be just fine - though I don't know for sure. Otherwise, yes it looks good.
