I'm starting to think that it could something on your PC that blocks the download of the software somehow. Check if you can disable firewall's and other sync/ COM port programs and try again.

Or if possible you could try this on another PC. I think that you should be able to select 'Next' after you've entered a faulty pattern to many times. Then you should be able to either answer your security question or log in with your Google account.
