I just downloaded the file Update_E752_AEY_1_v1r.ex­ e from the website of Siemens, because I want to change the firmware installed by my former ISP and install the default firmware of Siemens. Hi this is my first post. I am trying to install the firmware update for Siemens Speedstream 6250 after upgrading to ADSL2+ yesterday. I have turned off the firewall, made sure I am using the Administrator account, connected via the ethernet cable, but the 'Update firmware' button remains stubbornly blanked out.

The Bigpond Technical Support technicians tell me this is because the firmware is not compatible tihe windows 7. Telstra's solution is to buy a $99 modem from them. They didn't tell me that yesterday when I signed up for ADSL2+ I;ve also tried the firmware on but same issue. Any suggestions on how to get the firmware to install? Also be aware whatever firmware has issues with skype.

The newer firmwares made up for Optus for the 4200's resolve this issue. But it seems the 6520 is a dead & discontinued product, so yes, for the 6520's, Skype is a no go, and VoIP won't work with the Bigpond firmwares. The VoIP not working isn't the routers fault, it's the fault of someone insisting that the firmware engineers put in a brick wall for VoIP stuff. I have been using a Siemens Speedstream 6520 for my DSL connection from Bell for over a year. I found that the options in the router's interface somewhat limited. It turns out Bell has crippled the interface, disabling many options, such as Dynamic DNS support. I couldn't find a Siemens original firmware to upload but I found a solution. Apparently, the options are still there, but Bell used a different home page hiding these options. All you need is some HTML magic. Download these, extract them to any folder and edit them.

Both show router IP as 192.168.2.1, edit it to match your router. Then open index.htm via IE, Firefox, or your favorite web browser and voila. You'll see whole option list on the left side.
